The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Ro Torrence, the Round 7 slot, roughly 75 picks past where he belonged. Some smart calls, some head-scratchers, and a C+ in the wash.
Reaching for Jefferson left real value on the table behind him. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up.
If Cooper DeJean and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 32 they get an island corner. More want than need.
They paid sticker price for Kiran Amegadjie in the 64th pick, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
No drama and no debate, Brenden Rice went about where he belonged in the Round 3 slot. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Mohamed Kamara in the 132nd overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jordan Jefferson this early at Round 5, Pick 23. A need, and now a little less of one.
Sione Vaki at slot 173 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Cody Schrader in No. 174 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
Ro Torrence at pick No. 252 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
