The Chiefs treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending the 66th overall pick on Tez Johnson a full 29 spots early. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. However the rest shakes out, Mukuba at that price is a win they earned.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.31 · Pick 31 · Mykel Williams · DE-EDGE · rank 25
Mykel Williams in the Round 1 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R2.31 · Pick 63 · Aireontae Ersery · OT · rank 56
A tidy little value on Aireontae Ersery in pick 63, a step better than break-even. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R3.2 · Pick 66 · Tez Johnson · WR · rank 95
This one needs a full-page explanation: Tez Johnson in slot 66, miles early. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R3.31 · Pick 95 · Andrew Mukuba · S · rank 72
They robbed the room for Andrew Mukuba here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R4.30 · Pick 131 · Hollin Pierce · OT · rank 110
Taking Hollin Pierce in pick No. 131 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
