· 4 reaches
There is reaching, and then there is Luke McCaffrey at the 67th overall pick. The Chiefs jumped the board by 74 and dared it to prove them wrong.
That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They banked enough surplus on Braswell to cover a lot of smaller sins.
It grades out a shrug today, with plenty of room to move either way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 32 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. The biggest hole, addressed.
Chris Braswell at No. 64 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It fills a real need, too.
Luke McCaffrey at slot 67 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A premium they did not need to pay, Khyree Jackson a notch or two before his time. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Ben Sinnott in the 133rd overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Fair-plus on Keith Randolph Jr., a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They went early on Taulia Tagovailoa in the 210th overall pick, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They paid sticker price for Dwight McGlothern in the Round 7 slot, and that is fine. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
