The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Garret Greenfield, pick 252, roughly 35 picks past where he belonged. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss. On the needs board they went 3 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick-by-Pick
A clean, defensible pick in Round 2, Pick 11 with a little surplus value in Jordan Morgan. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Nice patience on Jermaine Burton, who had no business lasting to the Round 3 slot. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Mike Sainristil in the 79th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They let Jaden Hicks come to them and pounced at pick No. 95. A minor itch, scratched.
Mekhi Wingo in slot 107 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
A straight-up fair deal on Sataoa Laumea at No. 132, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board had Anthony Gould higher than pick 159, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They read the board right and Dwight McGlothern was the payoff at the 173rd pick. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Garret Greenfield at Round 7, Pick 32 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
