Somebody in the 159th overall pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Chiefs sat still while Kalen King, the No. 139 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The cost of the Polk reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 32 they get a weapon on the perimeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Ja'Lynn Polk at No. 64 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They liked Dominick Puni enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 3 slot. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Dadrion Taylor-Demerson at the 95th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A minor itch, scratched.
Javon Foster in Round 4, Pick 32 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Kalen King in the 159th pick, plain and simple. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Nice patience on Jaheim Bell, who had no business lasting to pick No. 173. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
