When the story of this class is written, it opens with Kedon Slovis at the Round 7 slot, a reach of 53 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. It lands right in the middle: a C+, no more, no less.
That Sainristil pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
The verdict is a shrug for now, with the swing picks left to write the real ending.
Pick-by-Pick
Payton Wilson slid further than he should have, and the 64th pick is lovely value for the linebacker. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Mike Sainristil at the Round 3 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Luke McCaffrey at pick 122 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Roger Rosengarten in No. 132 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They took Xavier Thomas at par in Round 5, Pick 23, which is nothing to complain about. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Value said wait; Jaden Crumedy in pick No. 173 says they were not listening. It fills a real need, too.
Kedon Slovis at the Round 7 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The roster fit checks out.
