The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Chiefs reached some 37 spots for Ryan Flournoy, and value like that does not grow back.
A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want. The Grable steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
Jordan Morgan at the 39th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
No edge and no loss on Ruke Orhorhoro in pick No. 64; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They talked themselves into Cedric Gray at pick 95, and the board did not agree. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They took Jarrian Jones at par in slot 132, which is nothing to complain about. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Ryan Flournoy at the 166th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
By-the-book stuff, Javion Cohen at Round 5, Pick 32 squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 5 slot with a little surplus value in Kamal Hadden. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Tylan Grable at Round 7, Pick 19 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
No drama and no debate, Tyrice Knight went about where he belonged in the 252nd overall pick. The roster fit checks out.
