The rest of the league will want that one back. Mason Taylor tumbling to the Chiefs in pick No. 132 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.
Reaching for Dellinger left real value on the table behind him. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast.
They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Spending an early pick on safety with wide receiver, quarterback and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
A safety of that caliber at slot 63 is the definition of value, full stop. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A surprising call. With wide receiver, quarterback and other spots still to address, they spent Round 3, Pick 2 on Andrew Mukuba, a safety they were not short of.
Demetrius Knight Jr. in pick No. 95 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Mason Taylor at No. 132 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Garrett Dellinger at the 256th pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
