Somebody in the 219th pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Chiefs sat still while Chris Paul Jr., the No. 117 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
The cost of the Thornton Jr. reach is exactly the players who went right after him. That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Spending an early pick on safety with tight end, quarterback and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.
