Somebody in slot 159 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Chiefs sat still while Jamari Thrash, the No. 130 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 32 they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Braden Fiske in the Round 2 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A straight-up fair deal on Caelen Carson at the 95th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They paid sticker price for Roger Rosengarten in the 132nd pick, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jamari Thrash at pick No. 159 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Cody Schrader in Round 5, Pick 37 is fair value, right on his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Daijahn Anthony at slot 252 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
