There is a lot to like until you notice tight end is still a hole. The Chiefs never got to the one that mattered most.
The Ulofoshio value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. Every board in the league had Washington lower, and that gap is the story. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
The skill positions did well by the weekend.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 32nd overall pick they get a go-to option on the outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Fair-plus on Braden Fiske, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Caelen Carson at pick 95 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They took Christian Jones at par in Round 4, Pick 32, which is nothing to complain about. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
No edge and no loss on Dylan Laube in the Round 5 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Tahj Washington at pick No. 173 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
