Everything else got attention, and tight end got none. That is a strange way for the Chiefs to leave a draft. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
If Jefferson pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Landing McCaffrey that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 32nd overall pick they get a home-run threat at receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Braden Fiske in Round 2, Pick 32 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Khyree Jackson. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Christian Jones in the Round 4 slot is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Luke McCaffrey at slot 159 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They jumped the gun on Jordan Jefferson, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They took Kimani Vidal at par in pick 252, which is nothing to complain about. A need, and now a little less of one.
