The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Chiefs watched Myles Harden slide 43 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. No fireworks, but a solid B.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up. The cost of the Jefferson reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 32nd overall pick they get a bendy edge with upside at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Devontez Walker at pick No. 64 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Steal is underselling it; Patrick Paul at slot 95 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
No edge and no loss on Jarrian Jones in No. 132; it is a wash and a sensible one. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A tidy bit of business in pick 159, where Jacob Cowing graded well above the range. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They liked Jordan Jefferson enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 5, Pick 37. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
