For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Chiefs walked out of the weekend still thin at tight end, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
The Briggs pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 32 they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
A straight-up fair deal on Devontez Walker at the 64th pick, value and slot in agreement. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
No edge and no loss on Khyree Jackson in slot 95; it is a wash and a sensible one. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Justin Eboigbe in the 132nd overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Dylan Laube at No. 159 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jha'Quan Jackson. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Jowon Briggs in the Round 7 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
