The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Patrick Paul, No. 95, roughly 26 picks past where he belonged. No fireworks, but a solid B.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end. The Jefferson pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 32 they get a ballhawk on the outside, and a steal at that. Need was not the driver here.
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 64 with a little surplus value in Ricky Pearsall. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Patrick Paul in the Round 3 slot, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A straight-up fair deal on Jamari Thrash at slot 132, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Brennan Jackson in the 159th pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A premium they did not need to pay, Jordan Jefferson a notch or two before his time. It fills a real need, too.
By-the-book stuff, Miyan Williams at Round 7, Pick 32 squarely in line with his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
