Call it larceny. McKinnley Jackson sat on the board until the Round 5 slot, and the Chiefs did not need to be asked twice. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. If Taylor III pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 32nd overall pick they get a weapon on the perimeter at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
A slide stopped in pick 64, with DJ James worth more than the price. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
The board had cheaper options than Leonard Taylor III at pick No. 95, and it noticed. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They took Christian Jones at par in slot 132, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A top-tier interior defensive lineman at a bargain, McKinnley Jackson in the Round 5 slot, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Kamal Hadden at No. 173 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Edefuan Ulofoshio is a better player than the 252nd pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
