For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Cardinals walked out of the weekend still thin at wide receiver, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 16 they get a premier pass rusher at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They paid sticker price for Aireontae Ersery in the Round 2 slot, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A straight-up fair deal on Elijah Arroyo at Round 3, Pick 14, value and slot in agreement. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
No drama and no debate, Ajani Cornelius went about where he belonged in slot 114. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
By-the-book stuff, Tyler Shough at the 153rd pick squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
