Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Chiefs spent the 176th overall pick on Logan Fano, a name the board had a full 79 spots lower. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
That Bernard pick is the receipt they will wave around later. That offensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Good work on the whole, with offensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 9 they get a ballhawk on the outside. More want than need.
In the Round 1 slot they get a red-zone target to build around, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Zion Young in slot 40 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Germie Bernard at the 74th overall pick is the proof. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Bud Clark at the 109th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Eli Raridon is a better player than pick 148 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Demond Claiborne slipping to the 169th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Logan Fano well ahead of where he belonged. A need, and now a little less of one.
Daevin Hobbs at slot 210 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
