Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Chiefs were there to profit. Caedan Wallace, the No. 213 name on the board, should have been long gone before the Round 7 slot.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 36 with a little surplus value in Adonai Mitchell. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
No drama and no debate, Kiran Amegadjie went about where he belonged in the Round 2 slot. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Circle this one: Cade Stover at pick 95 is a fall that decides a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Dominick Puni slid further than he should have, and No. 101 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A straight-up fair deal on Will Shipley at the 109th pick, value and slot in agreement. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Jacob Cowing at Round 5, Pick 16 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Marist Liufau in the 159th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They robbed the room for Caedan Wallace here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Nice patience on Daijahn Anthony, who had no business lasting to the Round 7 slot. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
