You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Cowboys did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. It lands right in the middle: a C-, no more, no less.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Watson. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up.

Hit on Kool-Aid McKinstry and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
