New England Patriots

The Patriots robbed the room for Sanders. Final grade: B-.

When a board-topper like T.J. Sanders slides to the 238th pick, you do not overthink it, and the Patriots did not.

The Royals pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.4 · Pick 4 · Travis Hunter · CB · rank 1
In Round 1, Pick 4 they get a press-man option on the boundary. Need was not the driver here.
R2.6 · Pick 38 · Jalen Royals · WR · rank 66
Jalen Royals at slot 38 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R3.5 · Pick 69 · Wyatt Milum · OT · rank 13
Wyatt Milum in the 69th overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R3.30 · Pick 94 · Dylan Fairchild · OG · rank 55
Somehow Dylan Fairchild was still sitting there in the 94th pick, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. The roster fit checks out.
R4.3 · Pick 104 · Jihaad Campbell · LB · rank 38
Jihaad Campbell at the Round 4 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R5.6 · Pick 143 · Ashton Jeanty · RB · rank 2
You do not let a running back like Ashton Jeanty reach pick 143 and blink. They did not. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R6.40 · Pick 215 · Tre Harris · WR · rank 26
Steal is underselling it; Tre Harris at No. 215 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R7.1 · Pick 217 · Chase Lundt · OT · rank 157
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Chase Lundt in pick No. 217, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R7.4 · Pick 220 · Lander Barton · LB · rank 123
They will replay Lander Barton at the 220th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
R7.22 · Pick 238 · T.J. Sanders · DT · rank 24
T.J. Sanders in Round 7, Pick 22 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
