For all the boxes ticked, the Vikings skipped the loudest one: quarterback is exactly as bare as it was. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Williams. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.
Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
No edge and no loss on Chop Robinson in Round 1, Pick 31; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A straight-up fair deal on Ennis Rakestraw Jr. at slot 35, value and slot in agreement. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Blake Corum in pick 78 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Tyrice Knight in pick No. 130 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A tidy little value on Kamal Hadden in the 145th overall pick, a step better than break-even. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
They paid sticker price for Keith Randolph Jr. in the 157th pick, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They took Justin Rogers at par in slot 166, which is nothing to complain about. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Nathan Thomas at the 179th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They barely believed it either: Isaiah Williams still on the board at pick No. 227. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
