B

Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings let Williams fall into their laps, and walked away with a B.

Future A+

For all the boxes ticked, the Vikings skipped the loudest one: quarterback is exactly as bare as it was. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.

If one pick saves this weekend, it is Williams. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.

Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.31 · Pick 31 · Chop Robinson · DE-EDGE · rank 34
No edge and no loss on Chop Robinson in Round 1, Pick 31; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R2.3 · Pick 35 · Ennis Rakestraw Jr. · CB · rank 36
A straight-up fair deal on Ennis Rakestraw Jr. at slot 35, value and slot in agreement. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R3.14 · Pick 78 · Blake Corum · RB · rank 72
Blake Corum in pick 78 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R4.30 · Pick 130 · Tyrice Knight · LB · rank 116
Tyrice Knight in pick No. 130 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R5.9 · Pick 145 · Kamal Hadden · CB · rank 140
A tidy little value on Kamal Hadden in the 145th overall pick, a step better than break-even. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
R5.21 · Pick 157 · Keith Randolph Jr. · DL-EDGE · rank 158
They paid sticker price for Keith Randolph Jr. in the 157th pick, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R5.30 · Pick 166 · Justin Rogers · DL · rank 167
They took Justin Rogers at par in slot 166, which is nothing to complain about. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R6.4 · Pick 179 · Nathan Thomas · OT · rank 182
Nathan Thomas at the 179th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R7.7 · Pick 227 · Isaiah Williams · WR · rank 209
They barely believed it either: Isaiah Williams still on the board at pick No. 227. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
