The Patriots won the night they stopped Gordon II from sliding. Grade: B.

Somebody in Round 7, Pick 4 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Patriots sat still while Ollie Gordon II, the No. 175 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. The bottom line is a respectable B.

The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. Every board in the league had Frazier lower, and that gap is the story.

That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.14 · Pick 14 · Kenneth Grant · DT · rank 19
In the Round 1 slot they get an anchor for the defensive front. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.6 · Pick 38 · Trey Amos · CB · rank 50
They liked Trey Amos enough to skip the value, taking him in the 38th pick. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R5.6 · Pick 145 · Hollin Pierce · OT · rank 118
Somehow Hollin Pierce was still sitting there in slot 145, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R7.1 · Pick 219 · Miles Frazier · OG · rank 243
A wild overpay on Miles Frazier in Round 7, Pick 1, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R7.4 · Pick 222 · Ollie Gordon II · RB · rank 175
They robbed the room for Ollie Gordon II here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R7.22 · Pick 240 · Logan Parr · OG · rank 261
They reached a country mile for Logan Parr at pick 240, and the board is aghast. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
