The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Dolphins watched Cam Skattebo slide 137 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
The cost of the Uiagalelei reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 13 they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
A slide stopped in No. 48, with Tyler Booker worth more than the price. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Dillon Gabriel in the 98th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They reached a country mile for Jack Nelson at the Round 3 slot, and the board is aghast. A need, and now a little less of one.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Azareye'h Thomas in pick No. 115. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A linebacker of that caliber at the 149th pick is the definition of value, full stop. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A real head-scratcher, Ricky White III in Round 5, Pick 19 is miles ahead of his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They talked themselves into DJ Uiagalelei at pick 224, and the board did not agree. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Xavier Nwankpa in the 231st pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A minor itch, scratched.
Somehow Cam Skattebo was still sitting there in pick No. 251, and they pounced on premier running back value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
