When a board-topper like Jordan Travis slides to the 213th overall pick, you do not overthink it, and the Cowboys did not.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. That offensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They will need Wright to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
Good work on the whole, with offensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 26th pick they get a featured back, though the board says they badly overpaid. A real need, handled.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jaylen Wright this early at the 57th overall pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Xavier Worthy in pick 87 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Mike Sainristil in pick No. 89 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Luke McCaffrey at Round 5, Pick 37 is the proof. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They barely believed it either: Jordan Travis still on the board at No. 213. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Daequan Hardy at slot 231 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A linebacker of that caliber at the Round 7 slot is the definition of value, full stop. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
