There is conviction, and then there is this. The Vikings took Jayson Jones a full 42 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

If one pick saves this weekend, it is Melton. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.

The Vikings indulged a want in Melton while a need in edge rusher and safety stayed open.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
