The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Vikings spent their marquee pick on Jayden Daniels, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped safety, which is a strange place to end up. Getting Jones where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
The Chambers reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 5th overall pick they get the arm they will build around. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Kris Jenkins slipping to No. 57 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They paid sticker price for Jonah Elliss in the Round 3 slot, and that is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Trey Benson in pick No. 107 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Sataoa Laumea in Round 4, Pick 24 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Luke McCaffrey at the 156th pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Nice patience on Jarrian Jones, who had no business lasting to pick 166. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A conviction pick on Steele Chambers at slot 176 that the board grades a round light. A minor need, but a need all the same.
By-the-book stuff, Jordan Jefferson at the 187th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
No drama and no debate, Trey Knox went about where he belonged in pick 230. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
