They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. J.J. McCarthy is the Vikings' quarterback, full stop. A mixed bag that lands at C+.
Ali has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain. They were the ones paying the moving tax this weekend.
In the end, a coin-flip class: fine today, with a wide range of outcomes ahead.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 4th pick they get their quarterback of the future, though the board says they badly overpaid. The biggest hole, addressed.
Cole Bishop in Round 4, Pick 8 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A reach on Trevor Keegan in the 129th overall pick; the board had better options right there. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Nelson Ceaser at pick 157 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
No edge and no loss on Kamal Hadden in No. 167; it is a wash and a sensible one. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Myles Cole. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
LaDarius Henderson in pick No. 230 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Rasheen Ali in the Round 7 slot, miles early. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
