There is conviction, and then there is this. The Bills took Isaiah Nwokobia a full 51 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.
Gill-Howard at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Good price on Deion Burks in the 91st overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They talked themselves into Mikail Kamara at pick No. 126, and the board did not agree. A need, and now a little less of one.
A straight-up fair deal on Bryce Boettcher at the 165th pick, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They let Skyler Gill-Howard come to them and pounced at slot 168. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Isaiah Nwokobia at Round 6, Pick 1 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They reached into another round for Jalen Huskey, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
