You can hear the double-takes from here. The Chiefs took Wesley Williams at slot 169, roughly 143 spots before his name belonged. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Fitzgerald. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 9 they get a lockdown presence outside. More want than need.
In the 29th pick they get a problem off the edge at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
A straight-up fair deal on Chris Bell at the Round 2 slot, value and slot in agreement. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Caleb Tiernan at pick No. 74 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
No drama and no debate, Michael Trigg went about where he belonged in Round 4, Pick 9. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Bishop Fitzgerald at pick 148 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Value said wait; Wesley Williams in pick 169 says they were not listening. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Aiden Fisher at Round 5, Pick 36 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Adam Randall well ahead of where he belonged. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
