The steal of the weekend belongs to the Giants and Demmings: B-.

2026 NFL Draft
· 7 picks
· 2 steals
· 4 reaches
This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Charles Demmings, the No. 149 name on the board, stolen at No. 186. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Reaching for Claiborne left real value on the table behind him.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 5 they get a three-down second-level presence, reach and all. Need was not the driver here.
A quiet steal in pick No. 37: Chris Brazzell II for less than the market said. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Fair-plus on Genesis Smith, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Demond Claiborne at the Round 5 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It fills a real need, too.
The board fumbled Charles Demmings all the way to Round 6, Pick 5, and they scooped it up. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pat Coogan in the 192nd pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A conviction pick on David Gusta at the 193rd overall pick that the board grades a round light. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
