The Packers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and CJ Daniels fell into No. 255. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
They are betting Morris proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
Value with a capital V on Caleb Banks in No. 52, a genuine coup. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Treydan Stukes in Round 3, Pick 20 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Max Llewellyn at the 120th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Drew Shelton in pick 160 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jimmy Rolder in the 201st pick, miles early. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A wild overpay on Micah Morris in pick No. 236, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A need, and now a little less of one.
CJ Daniels at the Round 7 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
