This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Darius Alexander, the No. 131 name on the board, stolen at Round 6, Pick 3.
A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. Job largely done: offensive lineman settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 31 they get an anchor for the defensive front, outstanding value to boot.
They robbed the room for Kaleb Johnson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Aireontae Ersery in the Round 3 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
The board had Donovan Jackson higher than pick No. 95, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A straight-up fair deal on Cody Simon at slot 132, value and slot in agreement. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
You do not let an interior defensive lineman like Darius Alexander reach the 181st overall pick and blink. They did not. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Somehow Kitan Crawford was still sitting there in No. 256, and they pounced on premier safety value. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
