Call it larceny. Lander Barton sat on the board until Round 7, Pick 20, and the Commanders did not need to be asked twice. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through wide receiver. Tight end is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 29 they get juice off the edge at fair value. A real need, handled.
Steal is underselling it; Tyler Booker at pick No. 61 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They barely believed it either: Malaki Starks still on the board at the 79th overall pick. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
TreVeyon Henderson at slot 148 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Jared Wilson at the Round 6 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A linebacker of that caliber at pick 238 is the definition of value, full stop. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Circle this one: Luke Lachey at Round 7, Pick 32 is a fall that decides a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
