When a board-topper like Austin Booker slides to the Round 6 slot, you do not overthink it, and the Dolphins did not.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 21 they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
They paid sticker price for Jackson Powers-Johnson in the Round 2 slot, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Javion Cohen is a better player than the 158th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Somehow Austin Booker was still sitting there in pick 186, and they pounced on premier edge rusher value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A quiet steal in the 199th pick: Trey Knox for less than the market said. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board had J.J. Weaver higher than pick No. 242, and the edge rusher fell to them anyway. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
