The rest of the league had time to spare on Roger Rosengarten; the Cowboys did not wait, grabbing him 40 spots ahead at pick 135.
That Barrett pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 24 they get a sticky cover corner at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Jackson Powers-Johnson at slot 56 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Roger Rosengarten at Round 4, Pick 35 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They reached into another round for Aki Ogunbiyi, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They let Edefuan Ulofoshio come to them and pounced at the 173rd pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A linebacker of that caliber at pick No. 210 is the definition of value, full stop. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Good price on Sheridan Jones in pick 226, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
No edge and no loss on Aaron Frost in the 242nd overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
