The Bills put a flag in the ground for Jaishawn Barham, 39 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit.
A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Igbinosun. On the needs board they went 5 of 9, with linebacker the one that mattered most.
They bet on numbers rather than a single high pick.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
A reasonable price with a little left over, A.J. Haulcy in slot 54. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A straight-up fair deal on Elijah Sarratt at pick No. 72, value and slot in agreement. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A wild overpay on Jaishawn Barham in the 82nd pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It fills a real need, too.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Davison Igbinosun in No. 141. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They paid sticker price for Beau Stephens in Round 5, Pick 9, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Kaleb Elarms-Orr in the Round 5 slot is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Eli Heidenreich at pick 220 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A big swing on Trey Zuhn III at the 226th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
