It is the swing that defines the weekend: Isaac Guerendo in the Round 7 slot, a good 72 spots before the room expected him. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
Getting Legette where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a seam-stretching tight end at fair value.
Taking Kool-Aid McKinstry in pick No. 37 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Circle this one: Xavier Legette at the 69th pick is a fall that decides a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They paid sticker price for Leonard Taylor III in No. 106, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They liked Renardo Green enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 139. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
AJ Barner at Round 6, Pick 8 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Isaac Guerendo in the 223rd pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A tidy little value on Taulia Tagovailoa in pick No. 256, a step better than break-even. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
