The war room fell hard for Roger Rosengarten, and it showed at pick 91: 44 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Landing Jones that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a sticky cover corner. The biggest hole, addressed.
Edgerrin Cooper in the 41st overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A minor itch, scratched.
Tyler Nubin at pick No. 58 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Max Melton is a better player than the Round 3 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Roger Rosengarten at slot 91 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A straight-up fair deal on Mohamed Kamara at No. 126, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They barely believed it either: Jarrian Jones still on the board at the Round 5 slot. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They paid sticker price for Julian Pearl in pick No. 202, and that is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They liked Dominique Hampton enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 219. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
They took Ryan Watts at par in No. 255, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
