You can hear the double-takes from here. The Commanders took J. Michael Sturdivant at the Round 5 slot, roughly 132 spots before his name belonged. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Landing Durant that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
The skill positions did well by the weekend.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.

A real head-scratcher, Hezekiah Masses in No. 71 is miles ahead of his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They left a pile of value on the table to take J. Michael Sturdivant this early at pick 147. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 187, where Zane Durant graded well above the range. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Josh Moten at slot 254 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
