The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Elijah Jones, pick No. 229, roughly 36 picks past where he belonged. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Johnson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 8 they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In pick No. 27 they get a No. 1 receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Jordan Morgan in Round 2, Pick 2 is fair value, right on his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
No edge and no loss on T'Vondre Sweat in slot 43; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A conviction pick on Jaylen Wright at pick 68 that the board grades a round light. It fills a real need, too.
Will Shipley at the Round 4 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Theo Johnson at the 111th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A need, and now a little less of one.
No drama and no debate, Caedan Wallace went about where he belonged in the 182nd pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Elijah Jones at Round 7, Pick 9 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A minor itch, scratched.
