The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Tommy Eichenberg, the Round 5 slot, roughly 28 picks past where he belonged. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
The phones were busy but the ledger stayed level.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 32nd pick they get an anchor for the offensive line at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Xavier Worthy is a better player than the 64th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They paid sticker price for Brenden Rice in slot 96, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Johnny Wilson in pick No. 132 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
The board fumbled Jarrian Jones all the way to Round 5, Pick 23, and they scooped it up. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Taking Tommy Eichenberg in the Round 5 slot is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
