Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Packers never addressed edge rusher, and it is the kind of gap that lingers. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
However the rest shakes out, Phillips at that price is a win they earned. If Benson pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get an island corner. The biggest hole, addressed.
A straight-up fair deal on Tyler Nubin at pick No. 41, value and slot in agreement. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Junior Colson at the 58th overall pick. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Trey Benson in the Round 3 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Christian Mahogany in Round 3, Pick 28 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They read the board right and Andru Phillips was the payoff at No. 127. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Trevor Keegan at pick 168 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A need, and now a little less of one.
