You build a draft on nights like this. DJ Giddens had no business being available in Round 7, Pick 25, and the Texans did the only sane thing and turned in the card. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Every board in the league had Lampkin lower, and that gap is the story.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Walter Nolen · DT · rank 21
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get an anchor for the defensive front at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · TreVeyon Henderson · RB · rank 55
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 58 with a little surplus value in TreVeyon Henderson. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R3.25 · Pick 89 · Aeneas Peebles · DL · rank 85
Fair-plus on Aeneas Peebles, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R4.26 · Pick 127 · Jake Majors · C · rank 107
Taking Jake Majors in the 127th pick is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R5.28 · Pick 167 · Willie Lampkin · OG · rank 180
Willie Lampkin in the 167th overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R7.25 · Pick 243 · DJ Giddens · RB · rank 175
They barely believed it either: DJ Giddens still on the board at slot 243. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
