The tape said wait; the Chiefs did not. Shilo Sanders went at the Round 7 slot, a good 65 picks before the board was ready. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
A straight-up fair deal on Tyler Booker at pick 31, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jalen Royals. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A conviction pick on Elijah Arroyo at slot 66 that the board grades a round light. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Cam Skattebo in No. 95 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They talked themselves into Tyler Baron at the 133rd pick, and the board did not agree. It fills a real need, too.
Value said wait; Shilo Sanders in the 226th overall pick says they were not listening. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They reached into another round for Ethan Downs, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A big swing on Xavier Truss at the 257th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
