You can hear the double-takes from here. The Eagles took J.J. Weaver at the 166th pick, roughly 182 spots before his name belonged. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Moore. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. It is not that Schwesinger is a bad player; it is that the Eagles had louder needs to answer first.
The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
The board fumbled Demetrius Knight Jr. all the way to pick 96, and they scooped it up. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A surprising call. With cornerback, wide receiver and other spots still to address, they spent pick No. 129 on Carson Schwesinger, a linebacker they were not short of.
Malachi Moore in slot 162 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
J.J. Weaver at Round 5, Pick 27 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They reached a country mile for Thor Griffith at the 169th overall pick, and the board is aghast. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
