After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Patriots committed. Jayden Daniels is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline.
Pritchett falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The Okie-Anoma pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
Jayden Daniels at pick No. 3 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They took Xavier Legette at par in pick 34, which is nothing to complain about. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A straight-up fair deal on Patrick Paul at the Round 3 slot, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Value said wait; Ben Sinnott in the 103rd pick says they were not listening. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They reached a country mile for Marist Liufau at the 137th overall pick, and the board is aghast. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They talked themselves into Jaylan Ford at No. 180, and the board did not agree. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
The board fumbled Nehemiah Pritchett all the way to slot 193, and they scooped it up. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Eyabi Okie-Anoma in Round 7, Pick 11 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
