Start where it matters. The Patriots took Drake Maye to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one.
The cost of the Harrell reach is exactly the players who went right after him. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.
Jackson falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 3 they get a franchise quarterback. A clean fit for the roster.
Quinyon Mitchell at No. 34 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Malachi Corley at Round 3, Pick 4 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
No edge and no loss on Matt Goncalves in pick No. 103; it is a wash and a sensible one. A need, and now a little less of one.
Dallin Holker at the 139th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The roster fit checks out.
Value said wait; Jaylen Harrell in the 182nd pick says they were not listening. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jha'Quan Jackson at the Round 7 slot is the proof. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A conviction pick on Matthew Jones at slot 232 that the board grades a round light. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
