Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Patriots were there to profit. Dwight McGlothern, the No. 161 name on the board, should have been long gone before the Round 6 slot. Call it a sensible B+, earned the boring way.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Cooper DeJean at No. 34 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A slide stopped in pick No. 68, with Xavier Worthy worth more than the price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
The board had cheaper options than Spencer Rattler at slot 103, and it noticed. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Ben Sinnott is a better player than the 137th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
By-the-book stuff, Jha'Quan Jackson at pick 180 squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Dwight McGlothern in Round 6, Pick 18 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
