The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Patriots spent their marquee pick on Jayden Daniels, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Wallace steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 4 they get the face of the franchise. A clean fit for the roster.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Adonai Mitchell. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They jumped the gun on Cooper Beebe, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
No edge and no loss on Kingsley Suamataia in the Round 2 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
By-the-book stuff, Cole Bishop at the 103rd pick squarely in line with his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Braelon Allen in No. 106 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Cedric Gray at Round 4, Pick 13 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
No drama and no debate, Jordan Jefferson went about where he belonged in the 180th overall pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 193 with a little surplus value in Johnny Dixon. A minor need, but a need all the same.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Caedan Wallace reach the Round 7 slot and blink. They did not. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
